I have a friend who's room mate is selling his '99 KTM Adventure. It has been lowered 2", has Givi bags and all of 550 miles. It is like new. He's selling it because it is just too much bike for him. He doesn't ride off road, but liked the pose factor so he bought it. It is just too off road oriented for him. He now has a very tame R1150GS. E- mail me off list if you're interested. Thanks. M

damage from bottoming out?

Hi Tim, You post made me laugh. You know how many times I've been in the middle of something 'delicate' with my bike all in bits, only to either knock it off its stand, or spill something somewhere I shouldn't, drop a nut into some little crevice, or notice a left over lock washer? My best was topping up the coolant. Suddenly the funnel stopped draining - it just stayed full, even though there was still room for more coolant. Of course, I was holding the funnel with both hands, leaned over the bike. Well, I had to try to remove the funnel without spilling coolant everywhere in my basement. So, I pull it out quickly but it caught on something, dumping coolant all over my bike and carpet. In a moment of frustration, I throw down the funnel, but it knocks over the open coolant container. Calming down, I take a step back, only to put my foot into the bowl of drained coolant. My advice for this kinda thing is to remember that everyone does it, that there's absolutely no avoiding Murphy, and that you should read 'Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance' to get a good perspective on this kinda stuff... And as for any damage to your bike, I wouldn't even worry about it. Inspect the underside of your rear fender and linkage to remove your own worry, but the most would be a scratch or something.... Cheers.... A9 - Van, BC
