hand guard - the simple aluminum bar type

Post by Istvan Szlany » Tue Jul 11, 2000 12:40 pm

hand guard - the simple aluminum bar type Hello All! I'm planning to fit my Eh13 with a pair of those simple aluminum type hand/finger/controls protector bar, hoping that the OEM plastic handguards can be fitted on the top of that.  I tried the cheapest EMGO bars, but that proved to be too small.  It would be okay if I wouldn't mind cutting off the balls from my brake and clutch levers.  Well, I think, if they brake off, it's okay, but I'm not going to cut them of on purpose!  I could hammer it to fit, but I don't want to do so until I investigate every other solution.  So now I'm looking for something larger than the EMGO. Previously I had an Acerbis Rally Pro, new style, with spoilers on it, and I know now, that - although it is tough - it is totally useless when it comes to weather protection even with the spoilers on! Ladies and Gentlemen on the list, your thoughts and comments are most welcome! cheers,                         istvan+Eh13(Calgary)

Do they flap around or is there some kind of securing system? - No securing system but one could easily be made for a few dollars. I have not had a problem with the straps flapping around Do the straps closest to the rider get in the way, or rub, especially when you're in the dirt and moving around your tank? - No. I tuck the straps under the seat. And will the harness system hold a heavy tankbag secure when travelling on, say, rough washboard? - No problem. you will have to be creative mounting the left front strap. Tim's radiator guards solved this problem for me. Finally, does anyone know what changes they made with the old and the new Explorer? - New fabric option and the side pockets can be taken off the main bag.
