I`ll tell you another purpose I use my horn for. The road I live on is
eat up with deer and sometimes elk. As I drive home at night, I regularly
beep my horn in fairly close sequences. I used to feel stupid doing this,
but I can`t exactly put a brush guard on my bike as I did on my truck
which has saved me and my truck from deer several times, twice last year),
until last month. I was going home at dusk and I was coming around a curve
just as I bleeped my horn. At that same instant, a deer was running down the
hill, was just reaching the road, and as my horn went off, he spun in place
and high-tailed it back up the hill.
I just placed those deer horns on my bike, but am skeptical of their
effectiveness, although a truck driver I know said that since he has put on
his, he only hit fortytwo deer last year, compared to the eightysix he hit
the year before. I guess 50% fewer is better than nothing.
