What can I say? I used to want to make a career out of it, huah Sergeant Major here I come! The best way to do that is to get fully tabbed out and ask for as many schools as you can possibly get into. I was a professional soldier, and pretty good at it. I had tons of promotion points, and was on the E-7 list, but I just couldn't stomach it anymore. I spent WAY too much time away from home, my wife was going to have a baby, my father was dying, and the lying C.I.C. and his entire cabinet and foreign policy made me sick. (And I had been an instrument of that policy.) (Now there is a poly-sci thesis, the effective use of the military by Bush vs. Clinton. Talk about an all-time high to an all-time low.) The choice came down to this; stay in and get promoted and a very healthy re-enlistment bonus, or get out, spend time with the family, and my dying father, see my daughter grow up, and save my self-respect and sanity. Funny you mention resume. Not a single one of those schools means jack in the real world. I have no marketable skills for the civilian world, except self-discipline and leadership. So now I am attacking my mechanical engineering classes with the same attitude I used to succeed in the Army. This is why I regularly bore everybody to tears with the most minute detail of the mechanics of the KLR Engineering changes your life, you never look at anything the same. The other week my wife and I went on a walk, and we were looking at the neighbors doing construction on their house. My wife is telling me how good she thinks their new awning makes their house look, and I'm trying to estimate the stresses on that cantilever beam. I'm a total nerd now. Jeff
