speedo calibration

Post by Michael Campbell (EUS) » Fri Jun 30, 2000 7:33 am

Hi All, My wife has an A3 and is tired of me telling her that she needs to go faster because her speedo is at least 5mph slow. Is there a way to calibrate it on the speedo internals, or, is there a calibration 'gear drive' or something I can put at one end of the cable to adjust the speedo? Thanks for any input! Actually I'm not even sure how that happened. We go to MIL's house, Mrs. Dash was complaining about all the money I've spent on my bike and then she says "And do you know what He wants NOW... a new Jacket BLAH BLAH Blah" Next thing I know I'm driving all over Albuquerque with my MIL to find my MACH ONE. O'course nobody had them in stock so I got online and found one. She hands me her Credit Card and told me to order it, and I hand her the cash I had for the other half. She told Mrs. Dash ... " Well I forgot to get him a B-Day Present and I don't want to see him get hurt if he crashes" HE HE HE (big Grins) I'm still waiting on the jacket to arrive but man I never expected that. My own mother never offered to pay for pro-equipment, she just told me to quit racing. Oh I didn't tell you the rest. I gave MIL $100 cash for half the jacket and a few minutes later she hands me back a fifty. My wife was sorta fuming, I'm sorta still numb at that point and refuse it, but she said she didn't want it back... Mrs. Dash tries to swipe it but I was with lightning quick reflexes that day. ;) Anyway, so MIL paid $209 on the credit card, I paid $50, had $50 to buy my son a new bicycle and then the next monday, the on-line store calls to re-nig on the price. The MSRP was wrong, I ended up paying the rest with my CC. An extra $50. Ironic eh? Stranger things have happened. I was given a complete set of brand new leathers at the track one day. I worked a corner one weekend as my bike was in pieces and I couldn't race it. I helped an older newbie club racer with his crash. Later that day I went to the pits to wander around and see people and I ran across this guy packing it in for home. I asked if he was done, he said YUP, as in done forever. This was his first season, he had never raced before and he was in his late 40's, he went out and bought all the stuff he needed to get going with the sport and just gave it up this one day. He said.. "I spent thousands on school, and equipment, my wife hates the sport and on top of that I've only finished 4 out of the last 21 races" This sport is for young rubber people and I just can't get the hang of it in the corners" I discouraged him from giving up the sport, since he was new, we chatted for a few minutes and then he handed me a brand new set of leathers, never raced. "I bought two sets a few months ago, you're about my size so these should fit you fine... I really appreciated your help in the corner and since I won't be needing these, I want you to have them" Talk about NUMB.... I could barely afford the used set that I bought two years earlier and this guy gives me a brand new suit.... Work those corners people... ;) LaterZ Dash
