I'm in about the same boat Jim, but I haven't narrowed the field down as much as you have. I'm still thinking about the Metzler Tourance, Dunlop D604, Michelin Sirac's, or Pirelli MT90 Scorpions. Of course the Kenda K270, IRC GP-110, Pirelli MT70 and the Dunlop D606 look like good replacements for the rear tire while I wait for the front tire to wear out. There are just too many good choices out there to allow an easy decision. Of course, there is the choice on whether to lean toward street or stick with dual purpose tires. I'll bet our KLR's would really handle well on the street with the Metzler's, Pirelli's, etc. I've been pretty happy with the OEM's but the rear is wearing out pretty quickly. Jim

How is this for logic. I'm going to try the Kendra's because they are cheap. If I like them, great, if not I can always upgrade. If you never spoil yourself on the *good things*, you never miss them. Remember when hamburger was good, now you want steak. Being happy with cheap tires is a good thing - hope it works out. - Knot ps: my favorite street oriented ds tire is the Metzler Enduro 3- but $$$ and wears pretty quickly so I run Gripsters and it is a good tradeoff.

Listers - Thanks for the latest thread on tire comparison. This is a good collective of rider's experience or preference for different types and gives me "food for thought" as I come to make a decision about my next pair. Jim - check your prices.... I just looked up MT21s on www.accwhse.com and got $46 for the front and $58 for the rear. I have bought all my tires through them (for my harley), very good customer support. Order online or 800 number. Never got blems or seconds always delivered in about a week.

They handled mud, rock gardens (with rocks as big as watermelons) a little sand and pavement without missing a beat. When I first got them they felt a little squirrelly but after breaking them in on some serious dirt, the street handling seemed much improved (could be the rider was also a little more broken in). Fellow lister Mark was running the Kenda 270's and also took all the varied terrain in stride. We came to the conclusion that "Tires is tires." Get what suits you and your preferred style of riding and make adjustments as necessary. Personally, I have had nothing but good use from the Maxxis C6006s, they wear well, work good in funky stuff, are pretty cheap, and have quite good road manners as well. I've gone through several sets.  I guess it's about 6000 miles to fronts, and about 5000 to rears.  My bike does cup the fronts, on any tire, it seems.  Just thought you'd like to know.  Others may agree, and others still may disagree.  I like the cheap tire angle myself - I see too many people paying too much for stuff, all kinds of stuff.

I just received my package from Tim. In it was a fork brace and a Happy-Trail made top mount for my Givi case. It was like opening jewelry. They look better than any OEM part on my bike. I expecting that both will add significant function also. If they work anything as well as they look, you may never see me without a smile again. M
