chain problems/ bad weekend

OK so I am having a BUSY weekend digging a hole in my back yard. So I decide to let Chaparral change my tube (having a persistent leak) So they change it and it cost me $8.00 no big deal, go home to put it back on, hey when did this tooth in my rear sprocket get chipped, OK shouldn't be a problem, I'll hook it all up and see what's up, start it up when its off the ground put it in gear, click click click, hey I heard that on Saturday morning when I went riding, stop the bike lube the chain, hey it looks like I have a link that has a broken roller. That's probably whats making the click, So my questions are: #1 Is the stock chain a without a master link? #2 How much is a new chain? # 3 My neighbor said all I have to do is get a masterlink and break off that broken link and put in the master link it will replace the broken link. Sounds good to me, Is this a normal practice? # 4 what would cause the sprocket chipping and chain breaking? loose chain, tight chain? Thanks Dale

Hi, K.C. I have one of these on my A5. Doesn't fit out of the box, but can be coerced. I had to relocate the drain plug hole and trim a little off of the side "wings," but it fits up against the frame. Also had to relocate the mounting holes, and put a spacer underneath the front bolt. Takes a little effort, but I feel that the extended coverage it provides is worth it. Oh, and I use both the stock mounting tabs AND the frame brackets that come with it. The plate fits up against the bottom frame rails, so any impacts should be directly transmitted there, without too much stress on the stock bolts/tabs. However, I'm thinking of adding a U-bolt mount for the front anyway, to be on the safe side. For an aerospace engineer, I sure do use a lot of civil-engineer-size safety factors...
