Speaking of tires, Mollye now has around 3000 miles on the Kings and
they`re holding up good. They did well at Moab
(dirt, gravel, sand, water-crossings) and have done well on asphalt ( 2600 +
miles) including nine hours in the rain and a little snow. When on wet
pavement, Mollye`s F650 was loaded and doing anywhere from 70 to 75mph, and
she says she didn`t experience any slippage or loss of traction she could
tell. She did notice a little squirminess at around 80mph and I noticed it
also, but we`re not sure if that`s related to the loading of the bike, the
stock front tire, or a combination of all.
I finally got to try them in some good mud and slush this past weekend,
and for not being a full knobby, they were hands down better than any other
tires I`ve tried ( Gripsters, Dunlop Trails, Sahara 3`s, GP110 and
Bridgestone Trailwings). Good solid traction with little slippage except
when I`d goose it, and even then it would still catch once I let off a
little.
They appear to have lost about 1/4 of their tread with 3000+ miles ( we
measured them new) so they may hold up well. I`m not used to having such an
aggressive tire hold up this well on pavement. More later.
