For those of you out in the woods, (or in your garage) 58 ft-lbs means; or 58 lbs on the end of a 1-foot wrench; or 116 lbs on the end of a 6-inch wrench; or 87 lbs on an 8-inch wrench or 77 lbs on a 9-inch wrench A torque wrench is for nuts in a close pattern, such as cylinder head bolts, and the maybe the two pinchbolts on your lower tripleclamp. For practically any other bolt on the bike a torque wrench is mainly "hobby tool". However, I recommend any new rider/mechanic use a torque wrench to learn how tight the manufacturer wants you to tighten bolts. Tighten the axle to 58, then remove and retighten the axle with the wrench you would use if you had a flat on the trail. Then recheck with the torque wrench to see if you're getting close. The goal here is to learn how hard to push on it with your foot. Enjoy!
