Your idea may very well work, expanding the pipe that is. I just installed my
IDS2 tonight. I put a large bead of high temp silicone in there, slipped the
two together and tightened the clamp. I'll find out how it worked tomorrow
evening. Supertrapp customer service told me that was the way to install the
muffler onto the "S-bend" pipe. If you decide to expand the muffler end of
the "S-bend" pipe, let me know how it works out. Cuz, if my installation
doesn't work, I'll need an alternative. By the way, if you haven't already
experienced it, make sure you split the distance between the muffler and head
pipe before tightening the clamps. if you don't, one end of your installation
will not have enough pipe mounted in/on its respective receptacle. Learned
this the hard way with wet silicone at both ends. Enough to make one toss the
pipe out the garage door if one isn't careful.
