radiator fan

Hello everyone, I purchased a 2000 KLR 650 in April and I'm loving every minute of it. It is my first motorcycle and so my mechanical skills of very poor. I have purchased a service manual and plan on learning how to repair my bike in order to save some money. Ok, I've been off-roading quite a bit lately and yesterday while attempting to cross a log, I lost my balance and the bike fell on its left side right on the log. At first I thought that the damage was only superficial but after further riding smoke started coming out of the radiator area. I quickly took apart the front side panel to access the back of the radiator and noticed that my rad fan had been kicked of the fan motor and had melted its center. Other damage included a .5cm indent in the side of the radiator. I called the dealership that sold me the bike and they said that it is impossible to just get the fan, you have to buy the whole motor, bracket and fan assembly...$330.00 (Can). My question is, does anybody know if I can get a fan without having to buy the assembly? Are there any other Kawi models that have the same fan? Or is it best just to go to a wrecking yard and look for the part there?
