What you are looking at is the European version of the KLR. Besides the color it has a smaller gas tank, and I think a better front brake, but I'm not sure. Jeff

This is the Euro version. Also available in Canada. There's one on the showroom floor of my local dealer selling side by side the GBG A14. I wasn't impressed just looking at it. No windshield, almost non-existent fairng,no tach, cheesy looking rack, much smaller tank. Only real improvement I could see was 21' front wheel and heavier front brake. The new front wheel should improve dirt handling yet it is shod with the closest thing to street tires i've seen on any stock KLR. My dealer tells me the bike actually weighs in a few pounds heavier than the A models. Sort of a rolling contradiction, less street capable than the A bikes but it's no KLX either. I'll report further if I can ever talk the dealer into letting me actually ride/test it.(not likely!!) Steve Pye A7

Yes, a heavier brake is good, but how is this 21" tire better than the standard KLR's 21" front tire? Cheers, Arne

OOPS! Of course your right Arne, both models have the 21' front wheel leaving me red faced with embassment! Here's an old saying : Better to remain silent and let people think you are a fool, than to open your mouth (or e-mail) and prove them right!! I stand corrected. Steve Pye A7

[dsn_klr650] tank mod correction

Here's the orginal post from Skip on his mod.... ______________________ Date: 12-Sep-1998 04:17:24 From: Subject: (klr650) (KLR650) Petcockless mod (Long , so take a nap first) List, That`s a scary sounding word up there. I`ve been trying to finish this post for the last four nights, but every time I start it, I get called out. ............................>snip<............................. Skip (who is gassed out and going to bed) Thanks Kurt. First a couple of clarifications before everbody starts in about the "low pressure pump". I had not worked on a KLR`s carb before ( two years ago) but had a Skidoo snow cat with a Kehin carb, that was the same in appearance but had a low pressure pump on the left side. None of my other bikes have had Kehins on them. I assumed this was the same. I found out a month later when I first removed the carb that it was a different style than I was used to. I posted that too. So don`t post to correct me, I know, that`s what I get for assuming. Imagine to my surprise that this mod worked so well by just siphoning. I`ve had it on two years now and the average is 27 extra miles from the "un-useable" fuel in mixed driving, 34 miles on trips without a lot of left and right severe leaning or rough terrain. Skip
