Conall,
John,
My A9 goes off 'main' onto 'reserve' at the 5 gallon
mark. After 20-25 miles, the reserve goes dry.
My soulution:
1) Dismount & lean your KLR way over to the left to
transfer the gas trapped in the right side of the tank.
2) Ride until it goes dry agin (about 20 miles).
3) Repeat step #1 again.
4) Ride another 5-10 miles.
5) Hitch a ride to the nearest gas station!
This technique uses all the gas in the tank.
YMMV

it up again. So yes, you will hit reserve with a
gallon to go and part of that gallon is unaccessible
by normal means, it's trapped in the right hand side
of the tank. My math may not be exact, but I think
you get the picture. Skip has a fuel tank mod, I'll
let someone else tell you about it.

I was riding the other day and the bike started to
cough and sputter. I cheched the tank, thinking it
was a gas problem and found about a gallon of gas
still in the tank. I turned the petcock to reserve
and it ran just fine. Is this a common problem with
ya'll? Do ya'll have to change to reserve for the last
gallon of gas in the tank? Any info would be nice.
