Saw the bars off if you are sure you want narrower bars. The worst that
could happen is you would have to buy new bars which is what you are
considering now.

Eldon Carls' fork extension caps raise the front end for the intended
purpose of extending rake and increasing trail. You can easily lower the
front end by loosening the triple clamps and sliding the fork tubes up (do
support the front end while you work) but it will affect handling so be
cautious when you go for a test ride. Be especially wary of soft sand and dirt.
