[dsn_klr650] shift lever, seat
Good Morning Everyone!
Ok, next lesson of a newbie Dual Sporter with a 350 lb bike: Don't ride new
dirt alone and if you do bring plenty of sweat.
Now for my questions:
1. Should I have a local upholstery shop recover my seat or just suck it up
and spend the money on a Russel or Corbin recover? My seat is no longer
usable and I'd hate to be without my bike for a month or three.
2. Anyone had any experiences good or bad with aftermarket shift levers?
After bending mine back to where I could at least get 4th and fifth gear, I
noticed I like it better down from it's original location but the frame
keeps me from downshifting all the way to first gear.
3. Are the Y2KLR's the same color as the 99's? I need both side radiator
fairings. The plastic holding tabs are no longer with us... R.I.P.
4. Is it possible to polish out scratches from a windscreen. My tall Kawi
model didn't like being planted very much at all. No deep scratches but
lot's of what there is.

Prolly have a local shop recover your seat to have something to ride on (since your seat is "unusable"), and if that's sufficient, then you've saved yourself some time and money. If it's insufficient for long term, then spend the $$ on Russel or Corbin. As it stands right now, they've got a month or three wait...>1. Yeah. Fred's got one for around $20. Always keep it in your pack when riding dirt, just in case you have to change it out.>2.
