[dsn_klr650] help! ga folks, bearing removal tool

Has anyone with a Canadian KLR (speedo in kilometers) ever determined whether or not there is a measure of speedo error? I assume that there is some error but just how much worries me. I seem to be going much slower than my speedo registers. Any thoughts? Rob

Rob, I've already sent you an e-mail about this, but now thanks to the Professor I know how to post my reply here on the list. According to what my GPS says, my Canuck KLR's speedo is roughly 10% out. 100 km/h indicated is actually about 90 km/h. Like you, I wish this was a bit closer to the truth. I wonder if the US models have the same prob, or if it is typical of our Metric speedo's. If anyone knows of a fix for this, please pass it on. Cheers, D.

A taller tire will lead to lower indicated speed & mileage. My USA-mileage is within 1-2 mph @ 70mph & my odometer reads 1-2% low. BTW, what's the Canadian distance term, kilometerage? Here's a good one. One of the guys I ride with has stripped his bike down for lowest weight. He's replaced his bikes instrument cluster with a bicycle computer. On a ride last year, from resetting the trip odo's at the start and after about 95 kms of road and trails, we compared our readings and there was only 0.1 KM difference (about 1/10th of a mile). I found that amazing. BTW, we were both using MT-21's on the front. TTYL Karl
