buying a used klr 650 - what should i be looking for?

I am considering buying a used KLR 650 Tengai. It is a 1993 model which has 19,000kms on it. What are the things I should be looking for? (when I ride it and when looking at it). What are the most common problems for this bike. Also how often should it be serviced and what needs to be done? Thanks
