Hey gang, First of all, thanks to everyone that helped out while I was searching for a bike. There were a bunch of helpful posts and I rec'd a ton of emails directly. I bought a '96 KLR 650R last night. Vitals are: about 800 miles, mint condition, basically stock, Baja Designs Dual Sport kit, Cheng Shin's mounted on it, and an extra set of Dunlop off road knobbies, owners Manual and Shop manual included. And thanks for all the insurance feedback, I went with Progressive through my local agent that does our cars and house. Decent rate, and service from my agent has always been first rate. I took it for a short spin after we dropped it off at my house: Observations in order of occurance: 1. This thing is tall. 2. I am WAY rusty. (haven't ridden in the dirt in...a long time!) 3. The seat is like the a 2X6 on end. I feel like I'm sitting on the top rail of a horse fence. 4. I am WAY rusty. 5. This thing is tall. 6. Huge grin. 7. Repeat the above x times. I took it out on a power line trail by the house for a few hundred yards, and I actually did pretty good, better then I thought I would do. I didn't fall off! I'll have to get it all legal and go over the bike from front to back before I start venturing to work and hitting the trails. Thanks again everyone, Ed - I'm not too excited now am I -Boyd Duvall, WA '96 KLX 650R '82 Katana 1000 ps: I know, I know, its not a KLR, that will be next.
