Luckily, we were riding slow when I started losing oil. Seeing the oil pouring out of the bottom was not an encouraging thing to see . . I had visions of a rock hole in my cases. The wooden plug (and tape and zip ties) worked well in a pinch. Replacing the drain plug is a lot easier than patching a hole in the cases. I changed oil and filter when I got the new (metal) plug and didn't find any metal shavings or particles. The KLR still runs and sounds like new. They are tough, but don't ever push your luck when you think you are losing oil or coolant. I'm ready to finish the ride. Will it be the Spring Dog? Dan Sutton KLR650 XR250R Transalp
