intro. and n. al rides

Post by emc4jhp@yahoo.com » Fri Apr 14, 2000 12:55 pm

Hello. My name is James and I live in N. AL. I've been reading the posts for a couple of weeks now and appreciate all the technical info. I've had my '00 KLR about 3 weeks now and have added the skid plate and gel grips- a vast improvement already. Suspension upgrades are in the works too along with a re-gearing. I've found the KLR is geared way too high for woods riding and I constantly stall the engine on rocky climbs. The suspension seems a little soft especially the front during braking, but seems to soak up aggressive riding well. I've found my front brake to be adequate so far, but a braided line will be added soon. I get plenty of stopping power, but the lever is spongier than I'd like. Questions: Will switching just the front sprocket give enough gear reduction for tight trails and rocky hill climbs? Anybody in the Huntsville, AL area? Thanks. James
