special codes in text

Post by RowlandCarson » Fri Oct 24, 2014 9:19 pm

Thorsten - I regularly use the “^52” code in a text box to show the file name in a drawing, but I have not found any situation where the codes “^50” (system date) or “^51” (system time) would be useful to include in a drawing.

What I _would_ find very useful instead is a way to display the date, time or full timestamp showing when the file was last saved. Is there any possibility of adding such a code?

Incidentally, I have just noticed that the code only works if it is the _only_ text entered. If anything else is aded to the entry box, the code displays as ^52 instead of the filename. This is not a particular problem for me, but I wondered if it is a bug or a feature!

Using CADintosh X v8.0.1 build 182, running OS X 10.9.5 on MacBook Pro (2.66GHz core i7, 8GB RAM).

Dear Rowland,
thanks.
I add that to the wishlist.

Dear Rowland,

I rechecked.

The current 8.1.2 has is already:
^53 last save date
^54 last save time

You can now also combine multiple ones into one text like:
This docs was last saved on ^53 at ^54

Thorsten - that’s perfect, thank you, I’ll download and try it (using 8.1.1 now). I had looked in my archives of the list for an answer but couldn’t find any since I made the request - sorry to have bothered you again.

Thorsten - I’m now using the latest version and find that the codes above work as you describe.

I note that the format of the displayed date corresponds to the system preferences for medium date.

My preferred short date format is 2015-10-23, which I’d like to see in the drawing; initially in the drawing I saw 23 Oct 2015 which was my medium date format. I have changed the system preference for medium date to 2015-10-23 and the drawing now reflects that.

I wonder if there is a convenient way to identify or choose which date format (short, medium, long, full) is used by CADintosh for these strings. I imagine there might be other folk who’d want to use different date presentations.
