cadintosh x issues

Post by RowlandCarson » Mon Aug 18, 2014 3:49 pm

I’ve just upgraded from OS 10.6.8 to OS 10.9.4 in order to keep up with the world, and so I’ve downloaded CADintosh X and started using it.

The first thing I notice is that there are no scrollbars on the main drawing window, and the previous facility for scrolling by holding the shift key while clicking and dragging no longer works. This makes it extremely tedious to move around my drawings.

Thorsten - please can you tell me if I have failed to notice some way of restoring these 2 important features, or if they will return in the next update?

Dear Rowland,
do you use a normal Apple Magic mouse? Simple use the sensor area to scroll in all directions.
Shift support for the old panning has to be reimplemented. It is on the todo list.

Thorsten - no, I have a MacBook Pro which I use in the office with an Apple aluminium keyboard and a Logitech mouse. That mouse has 2 buttons, and a scroll wheel which also tilts sideways. Those latter 2 controls allow me to scroll the drawing, but much more slowly (and jerkily) in the horizontal direction than the vertical.

I’m glad to hear that the shift-click-drag feature is scheduled to return. I had no idea how much I used it until it disappeared!

You have put a scroll bar on the symbols sub-window, so why not ones on the main drawing window? With large drawings it is essential to have an easy means of moving around.

Thorsten,

While we are talking about re-implementations, how about using the space bar in place of the comma when entering coordinates. I've spent a few days using both the old and new versions, an cannot believe how quickly I've come to enjoy using the space bar substitute for the comma. It is a much bigger target for my clumsy fingers!

Thank you very much,

Larry Fagan

Attachments :Dear Larry,

I found no way to do that with the cocoa text manager, yet.
Maybe a solution would be: I just replace the space with a command upon pressing return.

Thorsten - I haven’t used the new version enough to have noticed this - the inability to scroll around just turned me off, I’m afraid and I returned to v7.5.4b3.

So, I agree with Lawrence - the space bar is a very convenient time-saver when entering multiple items on the data entry line and I would miss that feature a lot if it could not be re-instated.

Hello,

so, I added now the automatic replacement of space with a command after pressing return.
Also, I added now command + scroll wheel to scroll left/right (if you do not use a magic mouse).

Hello,

sorry, typo caused by the automatic spelling correction: space is replaced with a comma

Thorsten - will it be possible to reinstate the cycle through Snaps with Tab key, also the reset Base Point function?

Best regards,

Stan.
