CSS Plate

Post by Daniel Angel » Sat Jan 16, 2016 11:41 am

Morning All

I need to replace my bottom CSS plate. It's polycarbonate and too
thick creating a gap between my donut and torso. I've perused online
including EBay but everything seems far too thick as well.

Anyone know of a vendor?

Thanks,

D. Scott

Why not replace it with plat aluminum? Thin as you need it (just buy the thickness you need), strong, light, easy to cut and shape and drill with a bandsaw, drill and file.

Whoops Meant to say I did want to switch to aluminum. I was hoping to find a ready made circle. We have shops here in SF that will cut and finish them but they're pricy. I could do it myself but cutting a circle isn't my best skill.

We have a place here in lower Wisconsin called Seedy Metals. It's a handyman's dream come true. Any type metal you need, no minimum and cut to size. Just cut to length. They don't do special layout cutting like round cutouts like Daniel want's. They have great prices. They will cut and ship any amount of product you want. Their motto is "Why pay an arm and a leg...when you only need a foot?"Speedymetals.com

Daniel, I don't think you'll find a pre-cut price of aluminum of the thickness and diameter you want. If you don't want to pay someone to cut it for you why not try it your self? All you really need is a big protractor, bandsaw, and a file. Then use common 350 grit wet/dry sandpaper to give the edge a nice finished look. A hand held jigsaw may work but you'll have a hard time getting a good even curved cut. Here are a few pics of me laying out and cutting the lexan shelf's of my CSS with a scroll saw and eening them out with a disc sander but it's the same principle. Dave Schulpius: Image

Why not replace it with plat aluminum? Thin as you need it (just buy the thickness you need), strong, light, easy to cut and shape and drill with a bandsaw, drill and file.

I need to replace my bottom CSS plate. It's polycarbonate and too
thick creating a gap between my donut and torso. I've perused online
including EBay but everything seems far too thick as well.

Anyone know of a vendor?

Thanks,

D. Scott

Attachments :Thanks everyone. The information was very helpful as usual. I hate giving up being able to see down into my leg section but the spacing is just far too much between the donut and torso. Luckily the upper polycarbonate plates can stay :-)
Thomas I think I may go your route.

Morning All

I need to replace my bottom CSS plate. It's polycarbonate and too
thick creating a gap between my donut and torso. I've perused online
including EBay but everything seems far too thick as well.

Anyone know of a vendor?

Thanks,

D. Scott
