My old computer died three weeks before their free update date and when I was forced to buy this computer I didn t know anything about the OS update and I clicked on a little icon in the lower right corner of my new 8.1 desktop to see what it did, it automatically just started updating to win 10 which is too bad because I was starting to like win 8.1. Subject: [B9Builders] 3D Modeling OK, it's gotten to that point. I've *always* wanted to learn 3D modeling; now with 3D printing finally coming of age, it's time.
Some really n00b basic questions to you 3D gurus:
1. Is there any 3D modeling software that is like Adobe Illustrator in the way it's used? Being familiar with Illustrator, I think I'd find it less confusion.
2. What software(s) would you recommend, based on (in order of my importance) ability to create .obj and .stl printing files, user-friendliness, availability of resources (tutorials, user groups, etc.), standard software within the industry (I'm not going to learn something and then find there's no use for it outside a personal studio!) and cost?
I've looked at a few CAD packages, Blender, 3ds Max, Maya... result: confusion.
My goal? Print some bits and bobs for my B9, of course.
