Fred Barton just finished up a bubble run, so you may be able to get one from him. Other parts may be a bit harder to get - but the key is patience.

Sooner or later, what you need will turn up. The only advice there is be sure to get it when it's available; there's no way to know when (or if!) it may be available again.

Daniel,
What is the rating on your limit switch? It should be silk screened on the side or embossed as part of the plastic body.
Typically, the smaller limit switches come in 0.4VA (gold contacts), 0.1A @5V, 1.5A, or 3A. The first two are for low level signals to control systems. They can't be used for switching power. The second two are more appropriate providing you stick within the listed current ratings.
Unless I missed it in the trail, what exactly is failing in the switch? Not sure if you're using the NO or NC, but is the contact failing shut or open?

Hi David
I have two on my waist control and two in my radar section. One of the switches in the waist is giving me problems. I've changed it a second time but it still works sporadically. I wouldn't change the radar switches because there is no central opening. Just two positions for both systems to prevent wire tangling.
For my droid I want one for the dome.
I could do without them but I can't resist tinkering

We use these on all the R2s for the body to dome connections since the dome spins 360. Normally use either the 15 or 24 wire slip rings. They work great providing you're careful with the wires mechanically and electrically. They are very fine - either 28ga or 26ga depending on the manufacturer.
Mechanically, don't flex them a lot. Some of the guys take the upper rotating wires and connect them into the dome directly. As the dome is taken on & off the wires flex, get pulled, etc. and eventually break. Its beneficial to have the rotating wire bundle go to a connector that's mounted to the part that's rotating. Then you can plug into that connector for running to whatever you're hooking up. I use either 15 or 25 pin D connectors depending on the size of the slip ring.
Electrically, don't run a lot of current through them. They're rated at 2A/ring, but it seems like a lot considering the small size of the slip ring and its wires. I parallel as many as I can for power and ground leaving the rest for signals. And this is for an R2 dome that has relatively low power draw in the dome. For the more power hungry B9s, you may have to use the much more expensive industrial slip rings.

Thanks for the info Bob. This stuff is good to know. It's great to have options. You say the one's you are use are only rated for 2 amps. That looks like the smallest in this 300 series. Looks like they have two sizes in this series with several models that will handle up to 10 amps. Much larger wire also. I wonder if the larger 16 gage wire is only for the power distribution and there are smaller ones for signal. Dave Schulpius

Sorry for the delay in responding.
I really appreciate everyone s input. I solved the problem. My limit switch casing was being cracked when I anchored it in the bracket I made (too aggressive with screwdriver) damaging the internal components. Actually did it twice

Next time my torso is off I ll take some images.
How My Setup Works (see the attached image):
The two limit switches are located at the back of the Lazy Susan anchored to my leg section. The stop trigger is in the front (a small wooden block anchored to a connecting bolt). As the waist rotates the trigger eventually hits a switch and stops. This prevents wires from tangling. To restart I just change direction. It s essentially a safeguard to prevent over rotation if I lose control - very simple. I have the same set-up in my radar section and all are controlled by EZ. I m attaching a PDF of the wiring configuration I used. Moving to a slip ring will eliminate the need for the switches and any worry of tangling. Plus any chance I can reduce wiring I will. My CCS base has a half inch polycarbonate disk with a center opening and already configured for a slip ring.

What is the rating on your limit switch? It should be silk screened on the side or embossed as part of the plastic body.
Typically, the smaller limit switches come in 0.4VA (gold contacts), 0.1A @5V, 1.5A, or 3A. The first two are for low level signals to control systems. They can't be used for switching power. The second two are more appropriate providing you stick within the listed current ratings.
Unless I missed it in the trail, what exactly is failing in the switch? Not sure if you're using the NO or NC, but is the contact failing shut or open?

Hi David
I have two on my waist control and two in my radar section. One of the switches in the waist is giving me problems. I've changed it a second time but it still works sporadically. I wouldn't change the radar switches because there is no central opening. Just two positions for both systems to prevent wire tangling.
For my droid I want one for the dome.
I could do without them but I can't resist tinkering

How My Setup Works (see the attached image):
The two limit switches are located at the back of the Lazy Susan anchored to my leg section. The stop trigger is in the front (a small wooden block anchored to a connecting bolt). As the waist rotates the trigger eventually hits a switch and stops. This prevents wires from tangling. To restart I just change direction. It s essentially a safeguard to prevent over rotation if I lose control - very simple. I have the same set-up in my radar section and all are controlled by EZ. I m attaching a PDF of the wiring configuration I used. Moving to a slip ring will eliminate the need for the switches and any worry of tangling. Plus any chance I can reduce wiring I will. My CCS base has a half inch polycarbonate disk with a center opening and already configured for a slip ring.

What is the rating on your limit switch? It should be silk screened on the side or embossed as part of the plastic body.
Typically, the smaller limit switches come in 0.4VA (gold contacts), 0.1A @5V, 1.5A, or 3A. The first two are for low level signals to control systems. They can't be used for switching power. The second two are more appropriate providing you stick within the listed current ratings.
Unless I missed it in the trail, what exactly is failing in the switch? Not sure if you're using the NO or NC, but is the contact failing shut or open?

Hi David
I have two on my waist control and two in my radar section. One of the switches in the waist is giving me problems. I've changed it a second time but it still works sporadically. I wouldn't change the radar switches because there is no central opening. Just two positions for both systems to prevent wire tangling.
For my droid I want one for the dome.
I could do without them but I can't resist tinkering

Yes, the one's I use in the R2s are the small signal ones from overseas (as was shown in the link Gordon mentioned). For power, I gang 3 wires for +12V and 3 for GND. But, again, the R2 dome electronics don't use much current. Mostly blinking LEDs and the occasional servo for the dome panels or periscope mechanism.
The B9's a totally different robot with lots of higher power stuff above the waist. Its taken me a while to get my head around the difference in power consumption.
The thing about the higher current slip rings is that you get very few (if any) signal wires. I'm certainly no expert on what various types are out there, but from the google searches, that seems to be the case.
Personally, since the waist only rotates ~180, I'm just going to let the wires do the twisting. Will probably make a horizontal loop and insure the cables are clamped enough to remove any stress from the connectors.

Thanks for the info Bob. This stuff is good to know. It's great to have options. You say the one's you are use are only rated for 2 amps. That looks like the smallest in this 300 series. Looks like they have two sizes in this series with several models that will handle up to 10 amps. Much larger wire also. We use these on all the R2s for the body to dome connections since the dome spins 360. Normally use either the 15 or 24 wire slip rings. They work great providing you're careful with the wires mechanically and electrically. They are very fine - either 28ga or 26ga depending on the manufacturer.
Mechanically, don't flex them a lot. Some of the guys take the upper rotating wires and connect them into the dome directly. As the dome is taken on & off the wires flex, get pulled, etc. and eventually break. Its beneficial to have the rotating wire bundle go to a connector that's mounted to the part that's rotating. Then you can plug into that connector for running to whatever you're hooking up. I use either 15 or 25 pin D connectors depending on the size of the slip ring.
Electrically, don't run a lot of current through them. They're rated at 2A/ring, but it seems like a lot considering the small size of the slip ring and its wires. I parallel as many as I can for power and ground leaving the rest for signals. And this is for an R2 dome that has relatively low power draw in the dome. For the more power hungry B9s, you may have to use the much more expensive industrial slip rings.

Glad the problem was an easy one to fix.
Nice wiring diagrams. I use the same circuit for over travel stopping if the micro control fails. Have it in my radar, waist rotate, and waist tilt drives. Very reliable.

How My Setup Works (see the attached image):
The two limit switches are located at the back of the Lazy Susan anchored to my leg section. The stop trigger is in the front (a small wooden block anchored to a connecting bolt). As the waist rotates the trigger eventually hits a switch and stops. This prevents wires from tangling. To restart I just change direction. It s essentially a safeguard to prevent over rotation if I lose control - very simple. I have the same set-up in my radar section and all are controlled by EZ. I m attaching a PDF of the wiring configuration I used. Moving to a slip ring will eliminate the need for the switches and any worry of tangling. Plus any chance I can reduce wiring I will. My CCS base has a half inch polycarbonate disk with a center opening and already configured for a slip ring.

What is the rating on your limit switch? It should be silk screened on the side or embossed as part of the plastic body.
Typically, the smaller limit switches come in 0.4VA (gold contacts), 0.1A @5V, 1.5A, or 3A. The first two are for low level signals to control systems. They can't be used for switching power. The second two are more appropriate providing you stick within the listed current ratings.
Unless I missed it in the trail, what exactly is failing in the switch? Not sure if you're using the NO or NC, but is the contact failing shut or open?

Hi David
I have two on my waist control and two in my radar section. One of the switches in the waist is giving me problems. I've changed it a second time but it still works sporadically. I wouldn't change the radar switches because there is no central opening. Just two positions for both systems to prevent wire tangling.
For my droid I want one for the dome.
I could do without them but I can't resist tinkering
