I can only answer a few of your questions...... The magic bed, like anything else, needs to be maintained. Check the bolts, gears, track, etc, for signs of a problem before allowing it to occur. Diesels will maintain their rated horsepower at altitude where a gas engine will lose about 10 hp for every 1000 feet in elevation you climb.
